Dr. Brooks graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972.  He practiced at two veterinary clinics before purchasing Fox Valley Veterinary Clinic in 1979.  Dr. Brooks enjoys all aspects of internal medicine with a special interest in soft tissue surgery and dermatology.

Dr. Brooks was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. He received his B.A. in Zoology from Rockford College in 1968, which is the same year he and Dodee were married.  He earned his D.V.M. degree in 1972 from the University of Illinois.  He and Dodee have raised three sons; Tom, Steve, and Rob.  Tom has become a veterinarian on staff here (Dr. TAB).  Steve has a Master's Degree in Math and teaches high school in Rockford.  Rob, after a three year stint in the Marine Corps and a B.A. in Recreation Management, is currently an Austin, Texas Land Management Ranger.  Dr. Brooks and the boys have enjoyed the outdoors.  Participating in Boy Scouts for the past 25+ years has provided great opportunities to be present as the boys grew, and many wonderful outdoor experiences (all done with thanks to Dodee).  Outside of work, he bicycles approximately 3000 miles/year to stay fit, and to commute to work.  Canoeing, photography, and cooking are fun too, and then there are the grandkids... six now.
