Fox Valley Veterinary Clinic is aware of the vast amount of information available on the internet. Our team has taken the time and evaluated the following sites. We trust the information the listed websites provide to you, our client, and member of our family.
The American Association of Feline Practioners (AAFP) is an organization dedicated to feline health topics. www.catvets.com
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an organization of, and for, veterinarians that has established standards for best veterinary practice. We are affiliate members of this organization. AAHA has created a website, "Healthy Pet", just for pet-owners that provides pet-owners with lots of information like pet care, travel, and pet events. www.healthypet.com
The Animal Poison Control Center website provides instructions for pet owners who think their pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance. If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, call our office or one of the after-hours emergency facilities listed in our After-hours... link to consult with a veterinarian. You may be instructed to call the ASPCA sponsered "national" Animal Poison Control Center. A $65 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card. (888) 426-4435 www.aspca.org/apcc
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) web site contains a library of information (in English and Spanish) covering a variety of animal health topics such as household hazards, foreign animal diseases, disaster preparation, and avian and canine influenza. We are members of the AVMA. The AVMA sets the educational standards for all 28 veterinary colleges in the country, develops drug-usage guidelines, participates in legislature involving animal care and abuse, and closely monitors the environment for early signs of health risk. www.avma.org
"Healthy Pets Healthy People" (HPHP) is the webpage of the Center for Disease Control dedicated to keeping pets and people who live together healthy. This webpage provides numerous resources such as journal articles, hotlines, and organizations all designed to keep pet owners informed about zoonotic disesases (diseases that are transmissible from animals to people). www.cdc.gov/healthypets
The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has informative animal-related topics at this web address, including guidelines for on-line pharmacy use, legislative topics and animal regulations. www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary
The Fox Valley Dog Training Club (FVDTC) is the dog training facility we recommend. FVDTC offers a complete range of classes: puppy, confirmation, and obedience. Members are also involved in agility, tracking, water rescue dog, and herding training. The club welcomes mixed breed dogs and has a program through which mixed breeds can win titles and qualify for awards. www.fvdtc.org
The Fox Valley Wildlife Center is a private, not-for-profit organization in Elburn, Illinois, that cares for orphaned and injured wildlife. The FVWC is state and federally licensed, and is the only rehabilitation center in Kane County. The FVWC provides hospital care for wild animals who need help and have been impacted by man in some way. The goal of the FVWC is to release these animals back into the wild because they deserve a second chance. www.foxvalleywildlife.org
Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets (H.E.L.P.)
Fox Valley Animal Welfare League (FVAWL)

The "Pet Health" page on the WebMD website contains an article about almost anything and everything that may concern a pet owner about their pet. This page puts a modern twist on pet health by utilizing fun slideshows, interesting weekly newletters, and even a Q & A message board with an AVMA veterinarian. www.pets.webmd.com
